Stretchy belt
The HUTCHINSON® Stretchy belt (autotension) powers the FEAD of cars. It is used on a fixed center-to-center distance and automatically maintains system tension without any additional tensioner.
Main Benefits
FEAD system optimization
Reduced costs and weight
Stable tension
Characteristics
Belt Structure
High manufacturing quality:
- Formed by molding, ribs drive the pulley by contact pressure in the grooves. They are made of an EPDM rubber base with high resistance to mechanical stress and environmental influence.
- Depending on the application, our range of rib layer surfaces (flock PA / Composite / PE film) provides the right solution for every required noise level.
- Cord is the structural part of the belt and is composed of Polyamide.
- The back of the belt provides contact with the idlers and can also transmit power on flat pulleys. It protects the cords and ensures the radial stability of the structure.
Performances
- Molding process that reduces material loss, ensuring dimensional control
- Profile according to ISO9981 standard
- Wide range of belt lengths and widths
- Operating temperature range from -40 to +135°C
- Optimized to minimize friction losses and bearing loads
- Excellent ozone resistance
- Oil & fluid resistance
- Extended lifetime (240 000km)
- Ability to drive multiple accessories simultaneously (alternators, air conditioning compressors, fans)
